Important Transition Announcement for Our SFBA.social Community

We are reaching a crucial juncture in our journey, and your immediate attention and action are vital. Open Collective, our current platform and fiscal host for receiving tax-deductible donations1 will stop allowing us to collect donations in just seven days.2 As a result, we have to quickly shift how we manage and receive your invaluable contributions.

Immediate Action—Please Move Donations to Ko-fi

To ensure the continuous support of our community and projects, we ask that all our donors transition their donations to our new platform, Ko-fi.3 We urge you to make this switch as soon as you can. Your prompt response is essential to maintain the momentum of our initiatives and community engagement.

Your Existing Donations—and SFBA—Are Safe

While the shift away from Open Collective is sudden, we want to assure you that all existing donations are secure. And, by carefully managing our costs, we have sufficient funds available for 9+ months of operations. Our team will retain full access to these funds through September 2024, and we do not foresee any major disruptions to our services or community support through this transition.

Our Commitment to Independence and Growth

This moment also marks a significant step towards our autonomy. While we investigate other possible fiscal hosts, we are also looking at options for solidifying our foundation and expanding our capabilities as an independent non-profit entity. Such a move towards self-sufficiency is not only a testament to our growth but also an alignment with our community’s values and long-term sustainability.

Looking Forward with Your Support

Change, especially when unexpected, can be challenging. However, it is also an opportunity for renewal and strengthening our resolve. We are optimistic about what lies ahead and deeply grateful for your continued support and flexibility during this time.

Your contribution and engagement with SFBA.social have always been the heartbeat of our community. As we navigate this transition, your swift action is more than just administrative—it’s a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to nurturing a vibrant and sustainable community.

We’ll be sharing more details soon. In the meantime, we invite your questions, thoughts, and continued dialogue. Together, we will ensure that this transition not only goes smoothly but also propels us towards an exciting and independent future.

Thank you for all for being such an integral part of the SFBA.social family. Together, we’ll continue to thrive.
